The kinds of lawns we core and seed

Brick colonials, ranch lots and builder-grade yards on clay. Swap in your own photos when you have them.

What a job looks like

Week by week after the seed goes down

What to expect on your own lawn, with weather as the variable.

  1. 01

Step 1: Day of the visit

Holes across the lawn, plugs of soil on top and seed in between. It looks rough.

  2. 02

Step 2: Week one to two

Plugs crumble with each watering and the seed swells. Keep the top inch damp.

  3. 03

Step 3: Week two to four

A green haze appears. Don't mow until the blades stand tall, and then only with the deck high.

  4. 04

    Step 4: November

The new grass fills in the thin spots until the cold slows it. The rest happens in spring.
